yeah I woudl like to go also... hopefully it doesn't conflict with plans my girlfreind made for my birthday...
btw guys sorry I didn't make it by tonight... girlfriend made other plans for me tonight.

Sebring is a strange event. There aren't grandstands throughout the track, most of the parking and spectating is right along the fence next to the track. There are a few hilly areas around the track, but honestly, I get a great view from my driveway. Most every day off I am out working in the garage and I hear something out at the track. One day it might be Indy cars, next day Grand Prix, followed by Winston cup cars, etc.... always something. If I don't go to Gainsville, I'll be in my driveway watching the cars come out of the last turn before the long straight behind the pits.
The Camaro is running great. I swapped in a proper 4th gen torque arm left over when I upgraded the one in my T/A ($0), put in a new front torque arm mount ($28), swapped T-5s ($300). My girlfriend has put about 3K miles on it already. She's been driving all over the state and having a blast. Good thing too 'case the Fiero she was driving lunched the motor and it will be sitting for a few months. Still haven't fixed that stupid EGR though. Some saturday I'll pull the manifold and drill out the broken bolts.
I completelty cleaned it up and detailed everything, put in new seats/interior parts ($120), swapped in rotors left over from the T/A upgrade ($0), replaced one caliper used($25).
All in all, a great car for a mechanic... especially for the price.
Still can't figure out exactly what is up with the radio wiring. The way it was put back together still isn't right. There has to be other issues with the radio wiring harness, so I'm going to go aftermarket everything when the time comes. I tried swapping radios, but that isn't it. The only way to solve the power drain without pulling fuses and such is that I just pulled the harness to the radio. No more problems....... now I'll just simply re-wire a new system.
In a few years, Let me know when you plan on selling the one you've got now. Especially for the same kind of price.
j/k

hehe... I knew it was a great car... just had to find someone that woudl fix it... Yeah that EGR thing when I looked at it was a bitch. I tried JBwelding it for a bit let it sit overnight, started car, worked great, then melted right off. Only thing to worry about is it seems after awhile the plugs on that side get a little worn. I never got misfires, but I have had the sheeting crack off. The wires in the car when I gave it to you were about 3 months old, maybe 2-3kk miles on them. The motor always ran like a top.
As for the harness... the fuses were popped when I found the car, I just replaced them to see what happened they worked great but drained in a few hours, I put a straw over every wire, and taped them up to make sure none of those were touching each other and got the long drain where it sits for like 8 hours. I hooked the radio back up, with the harness, still gave me drain problems.
My thory is that it was further back in the dash somewhere.... didn't have time to investigate so I jsut kept the fuses out.
glad it worked out for you, I just didn't have the time to have a car down for a tranny swap, pay for new tires, brakes, rotors, and still have a car with the egr, wiring and 130k miled motor.... It wa a great project car... And people have run that motor up to 200k. That car never missed an oil change... had free oil changes for life at a dealership in south Florida(actually if you take it in and said your name was John Morton they woudl probably give you a free oil cahnge and filter
)
As for my current car... like I said before anyone that saw my old car compared to this woudl not believe the differnce in cleanliness on average.

I wanna go but my girlfreind has plans for me on the friday and saturday for my birthday.
she won't tell me so may have to bring this up and asks if it conflicts or not
Eric, I'll have to send you some pics once the exterior is done. It stayed blue, but there will be white 30th anniversary Z stripes, clear headlight covers, window tint, chrome 98+ wheels, etc..... the way the car is turning out, you won't believe it.
Too bad I will be in Gainsville or you guys could hang by my place. believe me when I tell you that my driveway has a great view.
