Question Rear End Q.

OK, i finally got enough money to get the Z28 out of the mechanics.....tranny went. She's drives pretty crappy if you ask me...regardless at what speed or what gear i'm in it'll only shift up at about 3000rpms, but that's not my question. Before the tranny went out i bought a set of gears and pinions, but i also need to change the other stuff in the rear end housing. I don't know what it's called, but i've heard it called a pumpkin before. Well my question is can i put in a used set out of another car or should i order one new or should i get one from SLP? I've seen used sets for as cheap as $50....but the problem is mine make noise now and i don't want a used set to do the same.

What do you guys think i should do?

Do you mean the carrier? What gears do you have in the car right now? If you have 2.73's you need a 3 series carrier to put 3.42's in. I don't really know what the consequences would be of using a used 3 series carrier. Hopefully someone else will be able to chime in here and help you out.

I've got 3 series gears now, but am going down to 3.42. I also need to change the stuff that's inside. I don't know what it's called.
