mike's back down here, doing the random thread hi-jack.

why a Z06 and not a convertible?

i just can't see it. we have a 'vert, and you can look cool anytime, but you can only go so fast.

have you had a 'vert?
the drop top is a jaw dropper at most stop lites.

I let a mustang buddy drive it to Savannah for vacation, and he also said everyone just gapes at the 'vert, where they'd never really notice a t-top or hardtop car.

anyways, of course the wife wants a Vet, but all we get up here(on car lots) are hi mile hard top roaches.

congrats on it, and keep us updated on your impressions of it, I'd like to know how you feel about it as you go along, i tried the C5 forums. not so joyful

it really was a nice truck!

I think t-tops are the way to go... that way you don't have to worry about some high schooler knifing your soft top.

Of course t-tops can shatter too...

Well, as lng as you're not in highschool, and not in a habit of making enemies, I don't think you have to worry about someoe knifing your top. I've never had anything of mine vandalized before.

Mike, yeah, I'm down here now. My fiance is permenantly down here now too! We still haven't set a date for the wedding because of my headaches, but as soon as we're financially stable we will. Still seeing doctors, still no one has a clue

And John, there's nothing wrong with a good thread hijacking as long as the original topic is over

The fact that you're even writing this means you don't understand why anyone would want a Z06.

I really don't like convertibles, at all. I don't think they look good with the top up, and I've never been one to care much whether I have the wind in my hair or not. I'm also secure enough in myself that I don't care much if anyone looks at my car.

Personally I find that most car nuts will look at a Z06 long before any other form of vette, because they know what it is capable of, and since I really only want attention from other car nuts so I don't have to deal with people who know nothing about cars, then that suits me just fine.

As far as the *real* reason I got the Z06, of course it was for the speed. And not just the straight line speed, in fact that was the last reason I got it. I got it because it handles like an exotic race car, (and even compared to a stock C5 will completely and utterly hand it it's *** in a road course because of a highly superior suspension, better brakes, bigger tires, etc).

Anyway, it just strikes me as completely odd that you'd even try to pitch the idea of a convertible to someone who wants/bought a Z06, weird...anyone I know who would want a Z06 wouldn't even be slightly interested in a convertible. I'll take my extra 55 hp, 200 less lbs, and 8 seconds quicker per lap on most road courses for slightly less money, thanks

As far as "you can only go so fast", well that tells me you bought a vette just to show it off and not to drive it. Lets see, Autocrossing, Road courses, Drag Racing, etc, these are all forms of racing that are legal and that a Z06 will excel at, a lot.

No offense meant in any part of this post but I'm still baffled why you would even write the post you did.

Edit: forgot to add that i actually like the body style of the Z06/FRC's looks better than the Coupe as well. The top/cockpit is sexier.
