Offshore diving
Maybe someone can help with some info. I will be helping my folks move to Florida in Oct. They are moving to the Crystal River area. I have quite a bit of info on the springs diving in the area, but is there any good boat dives in the Tampa/St. Pete area? I would like to try a wreck dive if there are any in the area. Thanks!

i live bout 50 miles north of crystal river in cedar key, i havn't heard of many places to dive offshore. there are some hardbottom reefs bout 25 miles out. see that's the problem, you have to go 20 miles to get into 50 feet of water.
one of the most popular springs to dive is right near ocala..devil's den. then there are a few others, manatee springs.
if you want wreck dives make the drive to the keys...beautiful water and plenty of choices. my fav has been the Adulphus Busche off Big Pine Key. 210" freighter sunk in 98, top of superstructure is bout 80" deep, bottom by screws is bout 105". the cargo holds are wide open and so are some of the rooms in hte tower. and there are a few 300 pound jewfish that live there!
good luck
