ls1 brakes...

What do you guys reccomend?

I am pushing 40k on the stockers...

pads are thin, rotors are NOT warped...

1st... What pads do you reccomend, I am just looking for somthing that is as good as stock, preferably low dust. Don't really wanna be pricey like a set of Hawks, but don't want to be cheap on them. Any Generic autozone type stuff good, or should I order something online? I am an averagely agressive driver.

2nd... Rotors? They are not warped, I haven't inspected them further, think its worth stretching them out longer or just replace them while I do pads? They have some miles on them....

thank you...

I am running the NAPA Ceramix pads, both front and back. All I can say is "WOW, what a difference!"

Virtually no dust and they stop smooth and quick every time. They aren't the cheapest, but well worth the money.

I'm also running the KVR cross-drilled rotors. Love them too.

EBC's are good pads, you can get them here

They have Akebono's too, which are supposedly good as well.

On LS1 tech, there is a sale on drilled rotors and good pads.... $339 shipped IIRC for all four wheels.

hawks are only better in my opinion if you road race or autox. they in some cases stop worse then your stock pads. the thing about hawks is that they can take hard stoping over and over and over and over agian with out as much fade or loss. these is what i have come up with running them on my car. i would go for the EBCs, LS1 spindles and stuff with some Brembo Replacement rotors. probably atleast 600 total for all but will be best in the long run.

Depends completely on the compound. A set of HPS's will beat a set of stock pads every time while a set HT10's would never heat up enough to be effective.

Iv'e run the HPS's before and they're a great street pad but a little expensive. Currently I'm running a set of cheapie $30 Albany pads from Autozone and they work suprisinging well. They don't have the initial bite of the HPS's but they're as cheap as it gets and they didn't fade even after 5-6 back to back auto-x runs.

How bad do they dust? the albany pads...

not sure I am looking into $600 for new brakes. The $0 in mods thing isn't because I was trying to be creative, not looking to blow lots of money on performance upgrades on thsi car, especially ones that are not easily removed and sold.

I am just looking for something that is around stock performance brake fade isn't even a huge worry with me.

Not bad, the Hawk HPS's are worse. I can usually get 3-4 days of driving out of them before they look dirty enough to clean. I am not very hard on brakes though so YMMV.

I just won an LS1 setup for $152 but by the time you add shipping, new rotors and Hawk HP+ pads I'm going to be right at $550. I'm going to be pissed if I can't feel a difference but it is also a safety thing for me since I do some track days.

well at least on the brakes, when my old brakes on my old car were dead I got a lesson on babying the brakes.

and Jeff you will notice a difference. Stock pads and rotors with 30,000 miles were slightly better then when I had new rotors, and HPS pads, brand new and broken in. I am sure the difference in the hps and new rotors with ls1 car setup will be great.

Anyways if I was to consider a major upgrade I wodul go C5, now THOSE are brakes.
