Looking for sub $4k car....

Hey guys, I'm looking for a cheap car to drive until my wife and I get all our(mostly my) debt paid off. I kept thinking about getting a newer car but the more I thought about it I figured it would help alot to buy a car in cash and not have a car payment til we get ourselves out of debt.

Anyway, now that you know why, here's what I'm looking for. I'd like a 4 cyl in decent shape, pretty much anything else goes. I really don't care what it is as long as it has a good history and runs good(and has cold a/c). I'd like to get one that someone has owned for a while and knows the car well, but obviously in this price range I can't be too picky.

Anyway, if you have a car or know of a car that sounds like this please PM me or email me. I'll be looking to buy something in the next 3-4 weeks as I'm still getting the cash together.

Thanks!

I don't know if you'd be interested in a small truck, but I have a 91 Isuzu pickup 2.3 liter inline 4, 5 speed stick, Ice Cold AC, MP3 CD Player, 150K miles. The paint is white and in good shape. It has a bed liner, It has a locking aluminum truck box. The windows, locks, and steering are NOT power. I've owned it for the past 15 years since it was brand new and I just don't have any need for it anymore... It starts and runs wel... I have the original title...

If you're interested, I will part with it for less than half of your budget...

I live out near SpeedWorld if you want to look at it...

Thanks but I honestly hate driving trucks, so I think I'll pass. Plus, I know exactly what will happen if I get a truck, everyone I know will be asking me to move stuff for them. I don't want to be the guy with the truck.

Thanks for the offer though.

all i have is this. I jsut realized there is a problem with reverse in the trans though and i do not want to fix it so I will let it go cheaper. It does go in reverse just studders some. all other forward gears are fine, new stuff in it. and the front tires have about 20 miles on them, rears are great also, they are 18's

Thanks louvit, but I'm looking for a 4 banger, something that gets 30+mpg. I also don't want to have to worry about buying tires for 18" wheels. Thanks though.

Re: Looking for sub $4k car....

Not sure if this really helps you out or not since he hasn't owned the car for a long time--but a buddy of mine just opened up a small car dealership and has some of his cars priced really well.

I stopped by the other day and he just put this on the lot--car is in really good condition, real cold a/c, etc.

Only "problem" with the car is the rear spoiler--it was faded real bad, it's been re-painted but it doesn't match the rest of the car too well (if you really care it's probably $100-$150 to get done right).

Anyways, I just gave him a call and he said he would let it go for $3,900.
Not sure when you would get the $ though, said he had quite a few calls on it already so thinks it may be sold by tomorrow.

If your interested just give him a call it's (321) 214-3305 (mention cz28 so he gives you this price, he is offering it for more elsewhere).

Here is a link to his craigslist ad (he doesn't have it on autotrader yet). It was raining when I was over there so he moved it inside so the pics suck, but it is a real nice car.
