By CJ you do mean Criminal Justice right?

Florida State is supposed to have one of the best CJ schools in the nation.. at least that's what the rankings say (US news). Of course I wouldn't put too much weight in the rankings. I think that's more in regards to their grad program anyways. ttp://www.criminology.fsu.edu/

With that said.. I do know that they offer a CJ degree (bs, ms, phd).. heck I'm just finishing my ba in CJ and am starting grad work. Honestly, I think the program ain't bad.. and the undergrad program was not hard to get into either. It's a degree where you can make it as good/challenging/worthwhile as you want. Take the right classes with the right instructors and you can breeze through but you won't learn much. Or take the hard classes with the "ahole" professors and you can learn just about everything there is to know (and feel good about actually earning your degree). Oh, and FSU's panama city campus is now offering a UCSI program (underwater crime scene investigation).. kinda neato.. they put the program together with some federal agencies (fbi among others I believe) and that's where the federal agents receive their training. I guess it's a one of a kind program right now.. and they've got some pretty big names teaching classes for the program. You get scuba certified and learn how operate all the little underwater robots and such.. just something different to think about I guess.

If you want to know more about the town, campus, college, or school of criminology let me know - e-mail me sometime. On the down side the local F-body club kinda dissolved about two years back... uh.. maybe it was one year ago.. don't remember. Anyways I never really did much with them.. they mostly spent their evenings racing out in the styx (tallahassee is surrounded by wilderness). I hear we're reopening our 1/8 track but I think some of the locals are fighting it (noise).. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be opened but I don't know when. There is still a tallahsse mucscle car club (mostly stangs).. ttp://www.tallahasseemusclecar.com/

There's more fbody activity back around home (tampa bay) and in orlando I believe (judging by the posts on this board). I don't know much about ucf's program but I will say that their student union is pretty cool (like a mall.. and they even serve beer there!).. though I think our campus is great in general (all walking - with buses too) there is no way I would even consider walking across ucf's campus.. bike maybe.. but no walking. On the flip side though.. fsu's parking is a nightmare though they now have two parking garages.. and as they make the campus more pedestrian friendly it has become more car unfriendly (closing woodward ave. to cars). If you want the big town atmosphere I'd suggest tampa or orlando.. tallahasee has two malls and a lot of clubs.. it's like two towns in one (college town surrounded by normal tallahasse).. heck we have 3 big schools famu, tcc, fsu.. but the town still isn't a booming metropolis the way tampa and orlando are... but at least we have mikes beer barn where you can drive thru and buy beer by the gallon 24 hrs a day

I graduated from the University of Florida(College of Journalism/Communications). It's a great school, and a cool town. I don't know too much about the CJ dept., but here's a link to their website:

Feel free to ask any questions you have about UF or G-ville.

Thanks guys i really appreciate the replys..yeah i heard Florida State was a very good school. I will have to look into it. On the flip side though, i wont be able to afford to insure my camaro while i would be attending school, my plan is to get an old caprice 9c1 and just clone the exterior to an impy. But we will see how that goes..

Right now i am a second year student, at dean college...its a private college that is supposed to be good at getting you into the school that you want...that why i went there. and yes by CJ i do mean Criminal Justice, i just finished up my corrections, phsyke, Soc, and all that good stuff, this semester is crime scene investigation, Criminology, policeing, and i will be doing work study with my schools Police...i am currently a security guard...so i have some experience in the field. But i cant thank all of you enough

Why don't you try the University of West Florida. They have an excellent CJ program, and apartments around here are pretty cheap.

Plus we have some awesome beaches here!

UCF sucks

UCF sucks.

I am graduating this month with a BSBA in finance from ucf.
I can't say what the cj program is like, but in the finance program you get stuck with all phd student teachers who only care about getting thier stuff done.

The classes move very slow, I don't know how half the people in my classes even graduated high school, much less college.
If you want an easy degree and don't want to work very hard UCF is the place. If you actually want to learn something, find another school.

Stay up north.....there's too many stupid people down here. I can take a test with my eyes closed and score a 95.

That's a pretty broad assumption.

When I took FIN3403 there, the grad. assistants were always in the lab to answers any questions you had, that's what they're paid to do. Byrd was a GREAT lecturer and really organized the class well. I heard bad things about the other professor, but I never had him. When I was taking 3403, my friend at FSU was too and there was some things he didn't cover there that we did in our class, but then again, it could be a professor, NOT the entire school.

I wasn't a FIN major, but I felt like I was challenged in the CBA at UCF. Maybe you got a few easy professors or the class was too easy for you, but for the most part I think UCF is a really good school, in fact I transferred into it from another 4 yr. school.

Don't knock something as a whole just because you've had a bad experience along the line.

So there's no stupid people up north, at all?

It's all up to how much you want to learn. I graduated from a public high school and felt I got a great education. I also graduated from a state univ. and feel the same way.

There are people at little no name schools out in the sticks who have more aptitude than people at large metro. public schools, it's all in a person's work ethic.

When you're out of high school and in the real world, you'll see what I'm talking about.

yes up here there are a TON of stupid people...hell my town is full of them. Boston is supposed to have some of the best schools in teh country, yes some are but they also cost out the a$$ and liveing there is more expensive then studying abroad. Plus i hate boston its a swill hole..too many rapeist priests, pan handlers, and its a big Construction zone..this city keeps building ontop of crap that it hasnt even finished yet...hell we still have coble stone roads..and you would think that boston would be on a grid pattern like orlando or NYC NOPE! Its all curves hills and everything in between, forget about driveing into boston your better off walkin...boston just isnt my cup of tea, in the winter everyone hybernates, no one wants to do anything...and it is dismal..i need sun and girls in short skirts
