Movie theatre has already been raising prices for a bit.

Never really saw how this was gonna help much just forces prices to go up on everything else.

Anyone else starting to notice fast food getting pricier?

yep its an issue at my work...

base employees get $5.50, and have raises to like $5.65, 5.75, 5.85, $6.00 if they ahve been there awhile. and such... wile leads(have more responsibility get paid $6.00-6.75ish)

So regular employees are going tobe getting as much as leads... and stuff, we are already waiting for them to get pissed.

its Its amazing how few people understand this. There was a woman on the news this morning that was talking about how proud she was that they were raising the wage. What is she proud of? The fact that her employer does not think she is worth any more than 5.15 so the state has to steep in and make them pay her more, and not anyone else that is being paid more than 6.15.

sorta like what eric was saying... what happens when a person is hired a year ago at minimum wage and over the course of a year that person earns $1 in raises; then the minimum wage goes up $1. does that person continue making the same amount or does their pay go up above min wage? i'm not in that position, but it sucks for anyone else who is.

people who voted for this didn't seem to think about the economic ramifications that this would bring on.

the purchasing power for everyone in the state not making minimum wage just went down overnight.

You're right, that's why I voted against it.

People argue that minimum wage was not a living wage, but raising it $1 is suppose to be a significant increase.

How the hell can you support yourself making $6.15/hr. (unless you work 90 hrs./week)?

Re: get ready for the price of everything to go up starting may 2

I see it backwards or just the same as it was. Prices on EVERYTHING have been going up for years. Gas, food, Movies, Cars, houses. So what's wrong with raising the minimum pay standards as well? It sure as hell sint the first time its been done. And it wont be the last.
Yes many who are near the (new) minimum will get the ****ty end of the deal but thats how it works.

By your math, if the minumum drops back into the $2.30 range like it was years ago, companies will lower their prices right?? Businesses are built to make money, not to make thigns fair for you, deal with it. They will raise costs anytime they know you will continue to buy.
