Cracked windshield...

Driving down 408, nice big rock comes off a truck makes one bounce and hits my windshield.

Got some questions on cracked windshield in FL...

Its small still debating if I should have it replaced or not...

Either way, are there in rules on a crack being too small or is it they will replace it if you have any and all cracks.

Also how hard is it or how much is it to get one installed, if I supplied the windshield.

Re: Cracked windshield...

After all that effort NOT to crack it during the t-top install !

You don't have luck with windshields! That's the second one right?

Yep second one on that car... First one was through my dad though.

Sucks, seems like last week I just fixed the rubber strip at the top, even though it was months ago...

Re: Cracked windshield...

but it doesn't affect anything....so it kindda doesn't count as a claim.

they are not allowed to increase your rates, and it won't affect any rates at renewal time.

just call them...

Re: Cracked windshield...

That is assuming that you carry comprehensive coverage on your auto policy. If you just have the minimum... it isn't covered.

Good luck...

After the fiasco I went through getting the windshield replaced in my BMW glass guys rank down there with telemarketers and people who sell speakers out of vans (IMO).

I pains me to say this but if do have it replaced I'd take it to a dealer. At least then you'll know you're getting OEM glass/seals and you'll have someone to take it back to should they screw up the work (which is apparently a good possiblity).

Re: Cracked windshield...

The car is fully covered....

Now here is a tricky question, car is in my dad's name, but will be signed over to me when this policy ends. DO I rush and do it now, or do I wait? Will it show up as a claim on my dad, or on me? and if its a claim on me should I wait till I start a new policy.

Its not too bad, I mean you could cover it with a penny, but its a little 5 point stair, and its on the driver side I woudl blow it off if it was on passenger side.

Go now while it's covered. You don't want them to try and say it was a pre-existing problem when you have the car in your name.

Not sure if they could do that but why risk it, just go get the d@mn thing fixed !

I had thoughts if they inspected it to grab a bird and shake it over it untill it **** on it. Maybe they wouldn't see it

I'll start looking into it.
