calling all motor heads
calling all motor heads
I normally don't ask for much help but.......My engine guy in leaving for Christmas and I am in a bit of a bind. I have about 6 days to get my car put back together before I leave for a stint in the desert. My problem is I can't leave my car tore apart in the driveway for my wife to keep the kids out of while I'm gone. I found out that I have to leave 4 days ago, so it's not something that I have known about, this just kindof came up. What I am asking is if anyone around the Ft.Walton beach area is willing to give up a little time to help me put this thing back in the car. The block is completely built and on an engine hoist waiting to go back in the car, and everything is bought that needs to go back on the car, I just have little knowledge when it comes to putting these things back into cars. If there is anyone out there who is willing to help it would be greatly appreciated by myself and my wife, and you will not be doing it for free, I don't have anybody do work on my car without compensation. Once again if there is anyone out there that can help a fellow F-body enthusiast it would be greatly appreciated. If not I completely understand as it is the holidays and people are really busy. Thanks in advance.
Re: calling all motor heads
If you have an engine hoist and basic tools you can install it in a day.
I don't really know where Ft. Walton is and I don't think I can get away long enough to help. Worst case I'm sure we could all give you tips as you go along if you get stuck on something.
I installed mine from the bottom in a few hours time by myself. 6 days should be plenty long enough. Sorry I can't help more but buzz me on IM or on here and I can give tips.

Re: calling all motor heads
Thanks for all the responses. I have everything that is needed to put the car back together, except for the knowledge. Somebody else pulled it out and now I have to figure out how to get it back in. Well thanks anyway, guess I'll attempt it this weekend. Thanks
Re: calling all motor heads
Yeah, I know I wish that you were a lot closer.
Anyway, post up or send me a PM and I'll be happy to help that way as best I can. It's actually pretty straight forward once you get going. If you pull the K-member out from the bottom you can assemble everything on the the motor first, then bolt it to the k-member then lift up into the engine bay. If you have the trans still in there and are going in from the top then that's not too bad either you just have to install some more stuff afterwards.
There's some sites with pics on how to do it from the bottom if you search the boards I'm sure you'll find some good pictures on it.
