In some states it is illegal to move your CAT. This is part of the problem.

F-bodies were designed to have true dual exhaust so fabbing up all the necessary piping and moving all the fuel lines n bs thats in the way is far more work than 99% of exhaust shops will touch.

the main problem is the interferance of running the pipes up and over the axle. on the back side of the axle the panhard bar and it's bracket get in the way. seen couple guys remove the bar all together, since they were only 1/4mile cars, but if you plan to do any cornering...you have to have that bar!

it's also a lot of bending and fabbing to get hte hangers right, and usually costs way too much compared to the relatively simple "dump before the axle" design.

i'd like to do it, but i'm gonna wait till i get to use my dads shop...

someone is trying this with a mustang style x pipe and flowmasters. the firing order for the 5.0 liter and 350 are the same, so with the flowmasters and true duals it will sound just like the mustangs. they sound great, and if i didnt just buy a catback, i would do this. the same way whopper did, but with the x pipe(no H pipe for me, i had one on my old mustang and it sucked power.

true duals

no,we didnt do anything specials,or have to remove anything.they were very tight to get over the axle ,but after we got em over it ,the clearance is fine.they are a lil loud for some peoples taste, but i think they sound great,i payed 80 bucks for the mufflers and it cost me 200 for the rest, but i know the guy well and i helped him,but still good catbacks cost anywhere from 350$ on up to a gazillion bucks so it may be worth lookin into.for pure performance,im sure youd be better off to dump at the axle, because of less bends and restrictions, but having them out back is better for sound in my opinion.

TRUE DUELS

I just did this when I had my LT's installed. Here is a discription of how we did it. Off the collectors the piping goes to the rear of the tranny, they get side by side and an H-pipe is at that location, the pipes then run down the same route as the stock set-up, over the axle at the same location, then the driverside goes over to its side, down to Dynamax Bullets, and out the tailpipes. It is 2 3/4" runs with a 2" H-pipe piece. Sounds sweet and hope to have pics soon.

I was thinking on doing the same set-up, how does it sound? I thought since the driver's side tubing would be longer than the passengers, that it would distort the sound. Did you notice anything like this? do you have any sound clips?

i dont have any sound clips,yet....but it sounds great to me,a lil loud for some, but not bad inside the car,but those ARE race only dynomaxes so ,they are gonna be kinda loud, but it has great tone.one thing though,i dont have headers yet, cant decide what kind .im just wonderin if the headers will make it ALOT louder?
