Lost Fuel Pressure (pump) & Gauge. No Start 95 Z28

Hi there guys, its that time of year when we get out cars out and the forums start poppin!

So, about a week ago the Camaro would not start, I noticed the fuel level gauge pegged well above full and no pressure on my pillar mounted fuel pressure gauge. I pulled the key out and tried to prime the pump again, still no pressure. I got out and checked all the fuses and everything was fine so I tried it again and this time it fired right up and had proper fuel pressure.

Then about 2 days ago I was cruzin on the expressway and I noticed she started bucking a little and loosing power. The wideband o2 went very rich, like almost off the gauge rich, I didn't think to check fuel fuel pressure but this is the opposite of what low pressure would do anyway, so I dont think its related.

but now, It back to no pressure and gauge pegged. I know there is a fuel pump prime wire by the PCM i will jump on Sunday to see if I get pressure. But its so odd that the gauge is going goofy at the same time, so what do the two have in common, do they share a fuse or relay (cant find either btw) or if the pump looses voltage will that not send a signal to the gauge?

I remember hearing that if the PCM looses a cam sensor signal it disables the fuel system, would that be pump and gauge?

Thank you all for the input. I will be working on it Sunday. :-)

The harness for the fuel pump has three wires... a ground, 12V for the pump, and the level sensor signal. Sounds like a problem with the harness, possibly a loose or corroded connector. When the level sensor circuit is open, the gauge will peg at full.

Perfect. That is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for your time in these forums Injuneer! Since the pump and the gauge are messed up I bet your exactly right. I will inspect that Sunday and report back. Im sure there is a common ground as well i will check.
