Arrow lt1 stock crank and rod limits ?

im looking to rebuild a lt1 for now im just doing the bottom end. im planing too have the block cleaned and bored 30 over (or least as i can cleaning walls) cranks turned (possibly) rods line bored. my question is what will the stock crank and rods hold? i know allot of people say the old 350 bottom ends will hold 500 hp at flywheel. will the lt1 do the same?

im looking to build a stout motor not sure the specs i want yett but heads/cam maybe small shot of nitrous or s/c undecided
any input will be helpful, thanks

Yes 500 flywheel hp will be fine I would install arp rod bolts. The stock crank can hold well over 500 flywheel hp. You can get 500 flywheel without the nitrous or s/c. Talk to these guys http://advancedinduction.com/

would it be safe to run flat top pistons, nice heads cam intake and like a 150 shot ? in your opinion? (full bolt ons along with that)

Yes, have the rods re-sized with ARP bolts...although cost wise that's almost as much as upgrading to some Scat Pro-I beam rods.

The crank will be fine, and the stock rods will live with a light piston, no putting in heavy TRW/speed pro slugs and expecting to spin 7k for 500hp.

Balancing is a necessity.

These are what I am using http://www.probeindustries.com/Chevy...ns_p/12334.htm they will good for nitrous, but you need lower compression for s/c.

Re: lt1 stock crank and rod limits ?

ill keep them in mind. would if be safe to put a 150 shot to the pistons i put in the link above? (there arent forged.)
i have another question. to start i have no idea what im talking about when it comes to head porting but i was reading old threads and noticed the stock heads can be ported to suport 500 hp. what kind of numbers do i need to tell the machine shop to get a price? i wanted it tobe streetable but not a daily driver. so whats a good cam aswell . not sure ifi should adress a cam now so it can match head work or what not.
as far as asking aboutthe port numbers.
what should the intake ports or runners w.e theyere called be, valve jobs or anything else i missed.
thanks again for the help.

Re: lt1 stock crank and rod limits ?

Stay with http://elliottsportworks.com/ or http://advancedinduction.com/ for the heads and cam; you will not be disappointed by either one, but advancedinduction is CNC work. I would not put 150 shot to those keith black pistons, and I really would not even run them with a good h/c set up. You can get a lot of info about building a lt1 from either of the head porters I posted up, they also do custom grind cams. Those pistons I posted are not too expensive http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-S...Q5fAccessories
But you will need to order piston rings also the Sealed Power Hellfire Piston Ring are supposedly good for nsx.

These are the rods I use:

http://www.jegs.com/i/Scat/942/26000...oductId=761557

To choose pistons you need to make the choice now about which way you want to go power wise, if you are going to use a S/C you need to run a lower compression piston.
