A warning to those running LS1 injectors without retainers.
A warning to those running LS1 injectors without retainers.
I tried this the other day. Ran the car a few hundred miles maybe, checking the orientation of the injectors periodically. Last time I looked, the #3, 5, and 7 injectors had moved down quite a bit. Enough to see the O-ring from the bottom of the fuel rail. It wasn't leaking fuel so far as I could tell, but it only took a little jiggle make them do it. I pushed them back up all the way seated into the fuel rail and ran it again. Same thing happened. Had to take them back out and cut the groove all the way around.
I'm sure this wouldn't happen if the injectors had the same distance from O-ring to O-ring, so maybe the ford ones are okay, but these LS1 take outs (had them for years, bought from SLP way back) were not. At least not on my intake.
Also, I've read conflicting information as to what these flow at 43.5 PSI. Has anyone ran them on a stock motor and scanned to see if they were rich?

Re: A warning to those running LS1 injectors without retainers.
The LS1 28 #/HR injectors flow the same as a stock LT1 injector when operated at 43.5psi. The LS1 injectors are rated at 58psi, because that's the LS1's fuel pressure. Note that not all LS1 injectors were 28 #/HR.
