Valve boss - retainer clearance

At what lift would I have no clearance on nonmachined stock lt1 heads with the patriot gold Xtreme 8501-bsbc spring kit @1.80 installed height?

Can I run .610 safely? I have a .601 lift cam, but it's used and they may not be 100% accurate on the lift. Just want to have my ducks in a row.

It's a LE cam right, contact him I'm sure he would know off the top of his head and then let us all know, or you could just measure it yourself.

I doubt you will get a 1.80 installed height on stock heads, more like 1.780 max. I'm running the same springs with LT1 heads and .622 lift. My springs are set at a 1.80 installed height, but I have .050 longer valves.

To answer you question, you should be fine running .601/.610 lift with stock heads.

This is something that must be checked when test assembling the engine, regardless of what anyone else says. That said, it SHOULD not be a problem, but it still MUST be checked. I am a novice engine builder, but I am being schooled by a pro and have learned that this is the kind of thing that messes up a lot of novices, they simply either don't know what to check or just assume that it right. Don't assume that new parts have no defects is another thing I've learned. Check EVERYTHING. An OEM can afford a certain failure rate. You cannot.

Thanks everybody. I'll certainly double check while installing. So many things to be aware of! Jesus.
