I haven't used datamaster on my car in about 10 years. Back then I had a laptop which had a standard serial port, I never had a problem with the connection from the ALDL to the laptop. Now, with a newer laptop and USB connection, I ordered a new usb cable from AKM. It came with a replacement portion of the cable which enables use to a USB port, and it came with a CD disk with the drivers on it. Well, it still doesn't work, it gives me a datamaster error code #1, ALDL connection is good but no PCM detected. What the hell does that mean and how do I fix this??

Did you check with Andrew at AKM?

 

Well I toyed around with it for awhile. I ended up resetting the COM ports on the laptop and on datamaster so they matched. It works now!
