Good brand IAC motor
Good brand IAC motor
Ok I've been having a idle problem, my car is a 95 T/A M6 and only idling at around 500rpm. The car was running perfect aside from leaking oil so I pulled the intake and resealed it with new gaskets. I dropped it perfectly straight on and all the bolts fell right into the holes so I know it didn't get moved back n forth. And when I had the throttle body off I sprayed it down with carb cleaner (after doing this I read on here that I should of used throttle body cleaner
) I think this may have messed up the IAC motor. I just went outside and cleand the iac off real good (it was caked with carbon buildup) and tested the pins per shoeboxs diagram. The electrical test was good but when I plugged it into the car and turned the ignition on it didn't move at ALL. Then just for jollys I reassembled everything and I'm still idling at 500. I did hook up my laptop with freescan and the IAC counts are at 160.
Through searching the forums I think I've got a bad IAC motor. But my question is can I get away with a autozone chepo or should I go with a gm part? I also noticed they have iac motors for cars with and without a oil cooler and theres a huge price difference...whats the difference?? I really like gm parts but I'm anxious to get this darn thing running this weekend and don't want to wait for gmpartsdirect.com to order and ship the thing.
Thanks for any help these forums have been a great help!

Is it possible you flooded the IAC passage with dirty solvent, and its blocking air flow, rendering the IAC valve ineffective? Pull the valve again, and blow the passage out with compressed air.
