crank no start new opti

ok so I was coming home the other day and did a pull to 6,000 and then bam some one shut the car off. thought I just hit the revlimiter but the power never cam back on. well I checked and I had fuel at the schrader valve. so then I checked and I had no spark. I towed the car home with my jetta and started testing. turns out I had no voltage on the white wire that goes to the ICM. so I thought the rotor must have come off the dist. well pulled it apart and it hadn't but I got a new one from checkers anyway. (lifetime waranty) so anyway put the opti back in and im still in the same place just looking for a good place to go from here. I also scaned with freescan and found nothing thanks guys and sorry for the long story

The rotor has nothing to do with getting voltage to the white wire to the ICM. That signal requires the low res pulse from the optical sensor in the Opti. Have you scanned it for codes?

Its unclear what part you bought from checkers - was it just a cap/rotor, or was it a complete Opti? Have you rechecked for voltage on the white wire to the ICM, since you installed whatever part you bought?

I got a new distributor and reused my cup and rotor. I would think if the rotor fell off so would the optical wheel thats why I thought i didnt have any voltage. no codes and still no voltage at on the white wire on the ICM conector. checked the under hood fuse for ignition and its not blown and has + thanks for the fast response.

You need to remember 2 things about the IC signal on the white wire from the PCM to the ICM. One, it only has voltage while its being cranked and two, it can only be measured with the meter set to AC not DC. It's value should be between 1 and 4 volts AC.

yeah i checked it right. what Im thinking is that since im not geting any codes. that the ecu must be geting what it needs to from the opti and the problem must lye between the opti and icm. does that make sence? also should the car show rpms when cranking on ether the tack or on free scan?

well I think I figured it out. I think the timing chain snaped or one of the sprockets is spining on its shaft. the crank shaft is spining but the cam shaft isnt I wonder how many bent valves I have. I think i might shoot my self im done.........

Not likely, the opti would not be sending a signal out and you would have codes for it. If the cam broke it's possible but the starter would probably not be able to turn it over then.

I think your going in the wrong direction. But if you want to know for sure, pull a valve cover.

The LT1 is not an interference motor.
