3" of rain: running on 6cyc, just stated
Ok, we had a **** load of rain real fast. started my car and ran good, pulled out of work and within 30 feet she started missing. and all the way home she was running on 6 cyc's. could my opti have been that wet to miss that soon or did something just happen to happen to my car at the time it was raining?
seems like a dumb question, but i've seen weirder happen.

i actually got off at 9:00 last night and have not looked at it yet. I wonder if my cold air intake could be sucking up water? I'm going to take a look at it now, since it has not rained since last night. thanks for the help. curt
I just went out and started it and runs great. I got to looking and my filter came off, so i must have been sucking up some water. Not good for the engine. It sounds good so hopefully no damage was done. thanks for the input. I was worried cuz i have a brand new delphi opti.
The exact same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. It was raining hard and there were deep puddles on the road. Something told me to slow down, but I figured the opti couldn't be THAT sensitive. Sure enough, it began to stumble and the SES came on. I've had a couple of optis go bad on me and it was the same type of type of stumble. I parked it for a couple of days and when I drove it again, the SES went off and the car ran normal.
I haven't had a chance to check the codes to see if it was actually the opti or, like you, if some water got in through my CAI.

its an LT1 and running good, but still holding my breath. I'm gonna hold it for quite some time. lol
was thinking of making some kind of splash guard but that would keep the air from coming in. I guess in need to watch the weather better. or move back to arizona.
