Hesitation

I had hard starting after the car had sat for an hr or more and a hesitaton under heavy acceleration. I figured my fuel pump was dying so i put in a walbro. Plugs and coil are 6k miles new. The starting problem has been fixed. I discovered a few tears in the pick up tube when i replace the old pump. I still have the hesitation under heavy accel. It idles and starts fine but feels like it's missing under a heavy accel. I'm thinking it's time for some new injectors. They have 173k miles on them. Any other thoughts or similar probs? The opti was replaced about 30k ago.

I had some low rpm stumbling and hesitation also at load.

For me, it was the plug wires. The boots at the opti end were cracked and one wire broken at the crimp on the opti side. They were Taylor OVTC wires, so custom cut and crimped on opti side. Replaced with stock plug wires...all problems solved.

Sounds like you check plugs and coil...pull out the wires and check them out.

Got it a bit more figured out. It actually doesn't hesitate at all above 3k rpms. Or under 3k if i stomp on it or accell slowly. Under 3k under moderate accelarartion it feels like it's missing pretty consistant. Gonna fire it up tonight and look for acrhing in the dark.

Sure enough started it in the garage, turned the lights off and low and behold the coil wire was sparking on the coil. They were touching. Gonna replace the wire as soon as i can but for now i re-routed and wrapped it in electrical tape. True test in the morning. Hope this helps others.
