will 245/50/16's work on my '96 V6

Hello:

Will 245/50/16's work on my '96 V6?

Does this change the gearing much?

Does this change the speedo much?

Thanks in advance for your response.

yes they will work. Not sure about the speedo, depends what size tire you are going from. it wont be much though, IIRC, 225/60/16 to 245/50/16 was about 6 mph at 65mph

Thanks for the response.

I would be switching from 235/55/16's.

What is a plus one size? Sorry for my ignorance, I have always replaced tires with the same size ones in the past.

They'll fit fine.

What tires do you plan on getting?

Hey Everyone:

Thanks for the replies. I am looking at a set of new Kumho Ecsta AST. My cousin had them in his garage for his T/A that he sold. He is willing to let me have them for $120.00 for the set of 4. I just wanted to make sure everything would be ok with the V6.

The size will fit fine, I was running 245/50/ZR16 on my 02 V6.... I have a set of those Kumho Ecsta AST.....I hate them. Once I can afford 4 new tires those ones are going to get taken to the junk yard......I wont even sell them to somone......That's how much I hate them..

$120 for 4, if in good shape and decent tread, isn't a bad deal.

The bad that I've heard about these tires is that they don't last very long and that they don't do too well in the rain.

I mean, if you don't have the cash for better tires, you could just use these for now until you have the funds for some better ones.

245/50/16s, I like the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS for all-season.

I have the Kumho Ecsta ASXs (275/40/17) and I have no complaints with them. It looks like they're a step or two above the ASTs, but it is still the same "family" I guess.
