When the car is warm, how much oil should be in the valve covers at idle? I just saw a picture of some guys heads with his VC off and the top of his heads look like they get a lot more oil than mine. At idle there is a stream of oil touching the springs, but it doesn't go any higher. Is that enough oil?

 

To many variables and not enough info. For instance, does he have a high volume oil pump, engine mods, etc? In any case, engines with roller cams and rockers don't need as much oil in/on the valve train as solid cam. engines. And generally Chevy's pump a lot more oil to the valve train then other brands. So unless your having problems with valve specific wear I wouldn't worry about it.

 

I only have a stream at idle, but as long as each valve is getting wet, I think that is plenty. BTW that is with 60 PSI.

 

at idle I'm usually about 25psi, but at WOT im at 60psi. I checked after driving around and the top of the head has oil all over it so I'm not worried anymore.
