Best replacement parts?

I have one of my LT1’s torn down because of a blown head gasket. The oil pan filled with water/antifreeze so I wanted to give it a good look.

I’m going to replace the rings and probably the bearings (haven’t looked at them yet). What are the best replacement rings and bearings to use? Thanks for the help.

Clevite bearings - "P" series

Any of the rings out there will be fine, Sealed Power, Hastings, Perfect Circle, etc

I don't know how many miles you have on your motor, but I would advise against just replacing the rings in-frame. The rings that are in there are seated to the bore and you run the risk of the new rings not seating properly if you cannot put a new cross-hatch in the cylinders. Bearings are a good idea as the water eliminates the static lock of oil on the bearings and they may be hurt.

I plan on using a bottle brush hone on it to get the cross-hatching.

Not a good idea - you have no way of cleaning out all the metal particles that will be spread throughout the motor. We just had to rebuild a motor for a guy that did exactly this and wasted all his bearings and cam journals within 20 minutes of startup.

I have the motor torn down. I'm going to wash it down after I hone it.
