Overheating Problem

Overheating Problem

I have a 95 z-28 that I'm absolutely in love with but I am getting ready to set it on fire if I can't get the overheating problem fixed. I have replaced the radiator, water pump, all 3 sensors, radiator cap, thermostat, and even wired the fans to a switch and it still overheats. Please help before I go nuts.

have you blead your system to see if you have an air bubble in there?
I just sold my 95z it kinda had the same problem. When just running but not moving it would go almost all the way to the red line then the fans would kick on and cool it back down to half.

These cars are known for trapping a lot of air. You have to go through several heat cycles and bleed the air out every time.

With the car cool, start it up and open the two bleed valves. The one on the wp next should be the first to have coolant come out and then the top one should shortly after. It gets messy, but try to wait for a full stream and not just spurting.

Overheating

Well....too late...it blew a head gasket and I am putting a head gasket repair liquid in it before I go through the trouble of removing the heads. It is blowing out blue and white smoke so I will see what comes out of the cheap repair

Your overheating problem was probably the already blown head gasket. I doubt the "mechanic in a can" is going to help.

Overheating

So should I bleed the thermostat valve 1st and then the heater core one or both at the same time?? The Haynes manual I have could start a good fire...not worth using to repair this car...lol.

lol i always bleed the thermostat one first but idk if it matters, but i used the headgasket repair you can pick up at kragen just for a quick fix that i would get around to really changing the gaskets when i came up with more cash and time... but luckily after over 7 months of abuse to my car the head gasket it is still holding. so go with cheap and simple for now till you decide to p&p the heads then throw in a new gasket.

Angry Overheating

Well it's official....blown head gasket. Now do I do it myself or have someone do it for me??
