wheres the crankshaft pos sensor?
wheres the crankshaft pos sensor?
yep just like the title says,my car started misfiring pretty bad so i had it scanned and got the CPS code, anyone has pics or sketches of where it is? thanks for any help
It's on the timing cover, on the lower left as you look at the front of it. Normally, it does not cause misfiring, because it is not used for that purpose on an LT1. One can only assume from your screen name that you have a 1997.

Used only to detect misfires. Some claim a faulty CKP sensor has made their engine run rough, but there is no logical reason for this to happen. You shouldn't notice any difference, other than staring at the SES light.
As far as I know, its just used for misfire detection. Just make sure the code list you are using is not confusing the CKP sensor with the Opti optical sensor. I've seen lists that are misleading like that. Use Shoeboxes trouble code list.
