Question LT1 shortblock questions

Hi all, Last friday I spun a bearing on my 95 Z28,

So I've decided against a rebuild since I think this car is not worth it, I have always wanted a 97' Z28.
I want to call junk yards in town to see if I can find a good used lt1 shortblock, swap the block, sell the car and buy a 97'.

The main question is: can I use an LT1 block out of an other car?
If so, what other cars came with an LT1?

Thanks in Advance

you do know that your car is almost identical in every way to a 97, all except the interior. and yes you can use any lt1 block in any lt1 car, my 97SS currently has the motor out of my 95Z28 in it. oh and your car has less headaches than a 97...

Man, I would probably just keep the 95 because it is obd1. Plus you only have to deal with one catalytic converter instead of two.

Swapping the short block out and using all your 95 stuff on it will work fine.

Like what?

The only reason I want a 97 is because of the 30th aniversary, and the new dash style.

I thought obd2 was better for tuning??

do 96-97 really have 285hp instead of 275?

if your looking for a white 97 with the stripe package, you know a true 30th thats cool but if you just want any 97 to call it a 30th, thats just being a poser. and you can use any motor out of a roadmaster or a fleetwood as long as its a 5.7 LT1 i say 5.7 because there are some of those big bodied cars that have a 4.3liter LT1 in them.
