question about a new block

i have been going crazy trying to figure out what i wanna do with my engine that either needs rebuilt or replaced. i almost bought a 2nd lt1 but now someone gave me a idea i thought would be good.. buy a gm performance block n just put all my top end parts on it. will this work? the block i have found and think will work is the gm performance small block 350/290hp.. will all my top end parts and what not fit right on this block? and everything work the same and fit in right?

As stated, the heads will not fit on a Gen I block.

If your budget allows, contact Victory Racing Engines and get a budget shortblock from them.

VRE, or Golen can supply you with a LT1 shortblock, or you could rebuild your old one, keep in mind machine shop costs, and parts add up pretty quick. Getting a shortblock done by VRE, or Golen may be you cheapest route, you can then send your heads to LLoyd Elliot, and get his LE1 setup, and you would have a brand new motor.
Shortblock is around 2500.00
LE1 is around 1000.00

You can pick up a good cam pretty cheap on this site

well when you said "top end parts"i assumed you meant heads and intake but if it comes with heads then they are gonna be junky gm gen1 heads.dont use them, you will be very dissapointed with it.use an lt1 block, best and really the only way to go.
