A/C compressor whine?

I have a new whine happening ever since i turned my defrost on the other day. Its a lower pitched whine then say if the power steering pump was going out. Could this be a bad or seized a/c compressor? Or possibly a bad a/c clutch? It whines at all rpm and at idle, but when i turn on the defrost or the a/c it goes away.

I've been thinking about just replacing it with an a/c delete pulley anyway. Is there anything else that needs to be done? Or is it just pull the a/c compressor and replace with the pulley? Any help is greatly appreciated!

You can take the belt off and spin the a/c pully to see if it makes any noise or if you feel resistence. If it were siezed it make make all kinds of racket. How many miles on it? Mine started making noise around 115K.

It has 61,000 original miles on it. I just bought the car about two months ago and am only the second owner. Is the black forward most part supposed to spin as well? If it is then mine is seized.

No. That is part of the compressor and only spins once the clutches engage.
