Heads, cam and manifold install price

What kind of price figures am I looking at to install a set of LE2 Heads, cam, and a ported intake? I would do this myself, but I wake up at 6, eat and am working by 7, get off at 12 or so and from there I go to football and wrestling practice.

Surely, there are a few performance shops around there. Have you called around, just to get a ballpark?

Id say at least $1500?

A shop around here quoted me $900 for a camshaft and rocker install a few years back.

Private installer ... 500-700 if you supply the materials, gaskets and fluids.
Performance shop ... expect at least 1500, more likely 2000-2500.

Keep in mind that a private installer generally does this stuff on the side, it sometimes
takes longer than expected and you really don't have much as far as a warranty if something
breaks down the road. Be sure it's someone you trust.

Always discuss the project with a reputable shop before dropping the car and keys off.
Understand what they offer as far as warranty, time lines, and who supplies what.
I try to avoid shops that force you to have them make the purchase or make a huge down payment,
I've seen shops close their doors with your hard-earned money inside far too many times

Oh, and don't forget the tune.
I prefer to have a shop that specializes in tunes send a mail order tune to get the car running then update
with a proper dyno tune in their (or an acceptable remote) facility.

Id also ask Lloyd about the lifters. He's a very smart person, and would never steer you in the wrong direction, and has a TON of experience with this sorta thing.

Oh, and while you are at it. Do the plugs, wires, belt, PCV, air and fuel filters.
A 160* thermostat will work well with the tune and be an easy install with the system drained.

Also consider headers since the manifolds will be off anyhow.
If you don't already have one, install a cold air intake and a 3" catback as well.
Build an H/C car is silly without proper supporting mods.
