1.6rr's on stock springs?

can it be done? i guess the real question is should it be done?

Not the best of ideas, but yes, it's been done.

You could get a set of LT4 springs.. they're pretty cheap and up to the job.

Stock springs are marginal as it is. Wonder why you run out of wind on top? I'd guestimate what cam I intended to go with in the future (if not too big) and install the springs that would go with it. That way, you will have plenty of pressures for an RR ratioi increase and no have to change them again when you get a cam. JMHO

Yea but arent springs kind of a pain to change without taking the cylinder heads off?

I did my springs with the heads on in 2hrs.

With one of these Crane heads-on spring compressors, the spring change will be fast and easy.

Its not too hard, and cheap insurance at that.

ya it does, pretty niffty. As for your stock springs, no dont do it.

The LT4 springs will work with a stock cam and an LT4 HC. If you plan to go bigger just buy the springs now. I have the Crane 10308 springs with my CC306, and havent had any problems.
