LT1... 1LE or Aluminum intake elbow?
LT1... 1LE or Aluminum intake elbow?
Any opinions on what's "better"? The aluminum elbows are smoother internally and should promote better airflow, but they're metal, would heat retention be a concern? Do the 1LE elbows really outflow the stockers?
And you have not seen all the opinions by now?
Honestly, I don't see any of them being much different in flow. The 1LE is more convenient, because it does not have the silencer. It also has a bit thicker rubber on the TB end to make it more tear resistant than the stocker (a good thing, since that is usually where they fail).

Beware that if you use or have a 58mm TB that most of the aluminum/metal elbows are actually smaller than the openings...Imho the 1LE is the better choice all around...But I like the look of being factory...When you open my hood you'd have no idea what lurks within...
Hell, I still have A.I.R. and EGR...stock valve covers, A/C, P/S, etc, etc...

Seems not that long ago a vented opti was $100 cheaper than it is today.

I went with a 1LE to replace my torn stocker. I really don't like the appearance of the aluminum elbows, but then again I've never been into curb feelers either.
How much are the 1LE elbows now? I think I paid around 56 bucks a year or so ago.
Does GM ever give advance notice of parts they are planning to discontinue?
