LT headers

my headers keep coming loose! its really only the passenger side the most. just before i put it away for winter the two very bolts in the back came comepletley out twice. and then the gasket blows out making it sound like crap!! i use the blue locktight and it keeps happening. are there any locking bolts i could use or something??

They are expensive, but seem to be liked by those that use them.

>>split-lock fasteners<<

They used to be called Breslin but Percy's acquired Breslin a few month back.

Whatever you use, I advise 1". Also, should check them every so often, unless you really have some that are lockable----and easy to install and deinstall. I use ARP stainless and have had a couple back out, so I bought a couple extra to have on hand just in case. JMHO

Granted header bolts may be expensive, but in your situation, they might be well worth the money. My friend kept having the header bolts back out on his LS1 until one day they backed out enough where he blew out the gaskets. We installed some fresh gaskets and Stage 8 locking bolts and the car has been fine for almost 3 years now.

I used the 1" and I rarely have to tighten them. But I dont drive my car that often either. Is yours a DD?

I used the 1 inch bolts from arp after reading about them on here.I tightened mine after each of the 1st 2 heat cycles after installing my long tubes and they have been tight every time I have checked them since.Thats been almost a year now and 10k miles or so.Thats also using the copper gaskets that came with pacesetter longtubes.

Loctite won't do anything on header bolts since heat breaks it down. Re-torque a few times after you heat cycle them and they should stay tight. Mine haven't needed to be retorqued once yet.
