i bought this 95 z28 like last summer. off a guy i knew... he had it since it was new. and babied the car... (he didnt even know it had ASR traction control lol) the car sat outdide untouched for 4 years it has 99k on the clock. the water pump is shot leaking/ spraying everywhere...

anywho as of late i have noticed in my oil filler neck theres white foam caked to the sides, and a little condinsation on the cap. BUT the car doesnt smoak at all, theres never any water/anything in the oil when changed, ( i just changed it and it was black)

i dont really think the head gaskets are bad do you? let me know what you think......

It just sounds like a little condensation. This common on cars that are normally driven on short trips where the oil temp doesn't get hot enough to burn off the moisture.

 

now that youve brought up short trips.... this cars in winter storage thats about a mile away from my house... the last maybe 5 times
(3 months) its been there and back (to clean up the dust lol) btw ive just now started noticing this over the winter months....

 

just noticed the same thing yesterday when I changed my oil, I ran my finger along the inside of the filler tube and got a whitish/yellow film on my finger and on the top of the cap it has condensation. I stay in Al. and its pretty fluctual with the temps around here. The car gets driven every day about 40miles per day and has been driving fine. I dont see there being any issues with it, but if there is , Im sure some one here will chime in.----- I use Mobil synthetic-----

 

With a leaking water pump i would get that fixed asap as your opti is on it,s way to a death if it hasn,t already!
