stock cam along with 1.7 rockers will not be noticeable in an audible situation.

1.7 rockers on a stock cam and springs are a very bad Idea.

You put some LT4 springs on there yet? I'm sure you will get some power out of it without being able to hear it in the exhaust.

1.7s will not change the sound of the car at all, and they will not fit under stock valvecovers.

I'm using the Comp 26918 beehive springs. I bought mine before the quality control issue, and haven't had any issues with them.

For a complete, detailed write up of installing 1.7 Scorpion rockers on a stock motor, read this thread

Let me know if you have any questions,
Thomas.

lt4 springs wont be enough to handle 1.7rr's. look at something stronger.

I dunno for sure, but I suspect there may be some problem with pushrod interference and 1.7's. If you get them, check carefully.

When I installed the 1.7s with 7.150 pushrods and GMPP guideplates, they bottomed out on the guideplate on full valve seat. As you can imagine, the setup was extrememly noisy!

I ended up lengthening the pushrod slot in each guide by about 1/8" for added clearance.

I haven't noticed any other interference issues and have been running them for almost 2 years and 23k miles now. The pushrods do come pretty close to the head casting, but they do clear. Not sure if casting variances would be enough to allow contact, definitely something to check when installing.

I had to use a different length pushrod to get the geometry correct. I would recommend chromoly rods over the hardened. You definitely do not want any deflection in the pushrod with a 1.7 setup, as the fit is very tight.

Ummmm, ok ..... but this is not a zo6, it's an LT1; and I have the 1.7s installed in my car with a stock cam, and it did not change the sound.

well i read your thread...ive hear rockers change a lope i mean think your changing the cam size....but thats what i wanted to hear that it still sounds the same

i read your thread and some1 posted a list of what they used on the install and didnt post getting valve covers...im goana do a little more research on that...i didnt think lt4 gave you any more clearence than stock, and id really like to not have to buy some valve covers...that would kill the budget, although they do look nice and id like to have some

and ill probably do that for pushrods...love buying chromoly stuff anyways...

The rockers change the lift, but do not change the duration. I didn't notice anything different about the exhaust sound after installing.

You may be able to clearance the stock covers to fit, not sure on that because I decided early on to go with the LT4 covers for 2 reasons: no need to modify them and also because the material they are made from absorbs the roller rocker noise better than the stamped steel of the stock covers.

The LT4s definitely give you more clearance than stock.

As for budget, this is not a cheap mod to do. Off the top of my head, you'll need:
  • Rockers
  • Springs
  • Locks
  • Retainers
  • Guideplates
  • Pushrods
  • Valvecovers (or mod the stock ones)
  • Lifters (maybe)
  • Rocker Studs (stock is 3/8" ... you'll need 7/16")
  • Oil, gaskets, etc ...

If you're working on a tight budget, I'd recommend 1.6 self-aligning rockers over the 1.7s. I probably spend somewhere around $1k on this Of course, that included the LT4 covers + hardware and a new set of lifters (which you already know after reading my thread)

changing RR ratio isn't going to change the sound of any cam. The sound people typically like to hear is the "lope". Lope is a function of lobe seperation angle on the cam. RR can't change the LSA.
