alternator problem

i finished my headers a few days ago and i havent been driving it much since its still open headers but i did drive it home and to work and back. when i tried to start it tonight it barely started so i let it run to charge the battery and in a few minutes it died. i know it must be the alternator but it's hooked up and functoned before. anyone know what could be wrong with it? the only thing that i could think of is when i was putting it back together i accidently hit the alternator wire with a wench and it arced for a second other than that i cant think anything. any help would be appreciated as i have to drive to the exhaust shop tommorow

Only thing I can think of is check the wire that bolts to the back of it and make sure its on there good and tight. If you think the alternator may be going out then take if off and take it to have it tested. Most Autozone type stores have a machine and will test it for free.
