oil pressure check with mech gauge question..

I'm in the process of checking my oil pressure with a mechanical gauge as I type (Idling and warming up in the driveway) IP gauge drops to about 15 psi when the car warms up on warm days, and this is a newly rebuilt motor with only 1900 miles on it so far..

Anyhow back to my question: With my cam, should the mechanical gauge be bouncing around at idle? It's currently at 40 psi but the needle is bouncing around in step with the cam lope... Idling at around 800 to 1000 rpm (m6) Is this what one would expect?

Just got done running it around.. results with mechanical gauge:

Cold Idle: 45 psi

Warm Idle, before driving: 25 psi

Warm idle after driving 15 minutes: 18 psi

Driving:
2000 rpm: 40 psi

3000 rpm: 48 to 50 psi..

Thinking I'm ok here, just hate the fact that the warm idle drops so low..

any thoughts on the jumpy needle at idle?

If the idle fluctuates 200 RPM, it might jump a little. The next question is what did you use for a pump?

Builder put in (I believe) a Melling OEM Replacement pump (not High Volume)
