Cam2 in an LT1?

Bear with me, for i may not know the proper term for the fuel i am about to discuss.
Can stock internals on an LT1 handle the octane of Cam2 fuel? How much of it should i mix with 93 gasoline to see a temporary performance gain? How much HP might running Cam2 throw out? (rough estimate)

Is that leaded or unleaded? If it's leaded then you will clog up your cats.

What octane is it and what's it normally used for?

Theres alot of HUGE misconceptions out there about a fuels Octane rating....I'll explain it a bit for ya .......You asked if the stock LT1's internals can handle the Cam 2's Octane.....Octane defined in "very short" simple terms, Is just a given fuels "resistance" to detonation (and/or pre-ignition).....think of it as a scale.....the ONLY time an engine is aware of a particular octane is when there "isn't" enough, and detonation ocurrs......Fuels are tested on a "industry standard" type test engine with a variable compression ratio.....then after a particular fuels resistance to detonation is tested, an Octane number is asigned to it..........So the long and short of it (concerning octane) is that using a fuel with "more" Octane than is nessesary to stave off detonation on "that" particular engine, has really no advantage itself.....it won't hurt a bit, but won't help any either.........Cam 2 is just Sunoco's "Brand" of racing fuel....it comes in 110, 112, 116 Octane ratings...these are LEADED ONLY, and unfortunately (like mentioned) Leaded fuel can cause major issues with the 02 sensors and Cats on Late model EFI cars...not to mention that it's illegal to run(not that anyone would know though ).....they also have Unleaded Cam 2 in 100 & 104 Octane.............Other things that "more" influence a given fuels power increase on a particular engine, is the fuels overall oxygen rate, burn rate, Ect............but power advantages from these aspects are pretty mild alone...........the biggest reason people use race gas on certain cars is for engines with SUPER high compression ratio's where a higher Octane fuel is needed to hold off detonation(and/or to raise the engines detonation threshold for one reason or another).....decreased chance of Vapor-loc on carbed cars....and VERY importantly good race gas hardley has any batch to batch variations....the variations (batch to batch) of gas at the pumps is horribly inconsistant, and changes throughout the year............The last time I went out to the track with my car in my signature....I added 3 gallons of super expensive Rocket brand 118 octane racing fuel to my cars tank that already had about 1 gallon of Mobil premium 93 octane......I did this to create a little more of a detonation threshold than normal since I raised the jetting on my nitrous kit to a 175 RWHP shot(compared to my regular 125 RWHP shot)........I also made (all motor) passes before I added the 118 Octane fuel and the times were nearly identical(both ET and MPH)......the only difference I could feel was it seemed a bit snappier when the car was in park and I would rev it up some ..........another big shortcomming of just throwing a few gallons of a race type fuel into a car, is that an engine really needs to be re-tuned (both air/fuel & spark)for a particular fuel to get the most out of it........and unless the person is willing to fill up exclusively on that particular fuel(like on a designated race car), the tune (and time) is wasted once they go back to their regular fuel...........so ya see it's not really worth messing with in most cases.....unless ofcourse you do it for pushing the detonation threshold further away on certain applications..........Joe

Leaded isnt very nice to o2 sensors either

Certain O2 sensors are almost lead-proof.
Denso O2 sensors are VERY lead tolerant and I have no issues with mine after running leaded blends several times over 2 years....they still work like new.
Most other brands will be ruined within a few hours of lead exposure.
