New opti, plugs, wires, w/p, maf, not connected, car won't start.

I have a 97 ws6. I put a new gm opti, wires, ngk plugs. I did line up my opti to fit dowel. Car won't start, just cranks. Car hasn't run for at least 3 weeks. I don't have the w/p, the maf and air intake elbow connected. Will these things not connected cause the car to not start? I did see a old post reply from shoebox on something similar saying to plug the maf and elbow back on. Tanks!

Why did you replace them in the first place? It will help to see if something else was wrong and still is. I have read a few posts that people had trouble starting if they left stuff off. Maybe double check the connections, plugs, wires and routing to be sure. Hows your battery charge?

Well the car was throwing codes for multiple misfires, evap system flow during non purge, and catalyst below efficiency. I mainly decided to change the opti due to water pump failure, so while i have the pump off might as well. I bought the car last august and who knows the last tuneup/opti. Car has like 125,000k. I did find out if the maf isn't connected the car wouldn't start. And also possibly if the temp sensor isn't connected. Thanks guys for your input..

haha. yours may be funny, but after hooking up maf and temp sensor, still doesn't start. hmmm. i did drop my temp sensor in the bucket of coolant and didn't pull it out for like a week. It could be bad now. Maybe the coil, i'll double check connections as i checked wires again. Perhaps the opti isn't lined up like i thought for sure. Hmm, defiinitaly getting my education.

First thing to check is the opti connector. Mine was doing the exact same thing yours was, and the connector was messed up. Definitely check that out, and then go from there.

Haha. Well it turns out i didn't have the harness to the coil plugged like i thought. Car started right up! Seemed a lil slow on idle but seemed like it was picking up before i shut it off. THis is great news. I'll check it more later. Let it run again a little bit before adding water pump. Thanks for the input.
