Cooling fan operating temp after tune?
Lets get this has clear has possible
With my stock lt1 i was running a 160* stats with an hypertech power porgrammer tune. The tune was making my fan operate between 165*(low operating speed and 172* for high operating speed. My car was perfectly cold and the gauge needle never pass the 1/4 mark of the gauge.
Since im changing so much thing, including a new engine,i ve sent my pcm for a tune. When i receive my spec sheet i didnt really pay attention and look at it quickly.
Today while i was doing some paper works i ve found this sheet and i saw something that i wasent understanding...
With the new engine i will still using the 160* stats wich was written on the spec sheet but the fan operating temp seems maybe high for a 160* stats compare to the hypertech one.
The number are 180* for low speed rotation and 190* for high speed rotation.
Is there a mistake in the tune or is it me that dont understand something
Thank you

could be what your tuner sets fans at for a 160 stat....some people believe "optimal" temp for an engine is around 180 so they run a 160 stat(this is where the thermostat starts to open) and set the fan temps higher to try to maintain that 180....probably unlikely your factory radiator is efficient enough to keep it down at the 165 anyway....with the same setting as your originals my wifes grand prix GTP usually hangs between 175 and 180 according to hp tuners
I ve talk to my tuner and the prblem is that the number that i got from hypertech are wrong.Hypertech also recommend 180*/190* combo when using a 160*stats.
I also understand from what he said to me that, if the thermostat opens at the same time the fans kick on, they will run almost all the time and the heat cycle will not be as effective.
Well i learn things everyday
