what could cause this? the motor has 13k mile on it

My car smokes white a little when its cold out and I start it up in the morning. I have no cats so I think condensation builds up where they used to be.
I would say that was definitely blue smoke,I had an '87 GTA that did the same sort of thing only it was much worse than yours.As mentioned it's probably valve seals if it just occcurs on cold start-ups.
Well, having gutted cats creates a kind of pool for water condensation which would normally be allowed to evaporate out the pipes normally but it gets stuck in the area where the cats used to be and trapped by the lip.



If it's white smoke, it's likely a head gasket. If it's blue smoke, you're burning oil. If it's black smoke, you're running too rich.
