Hard starts, runs poor, fuel pump?

Now I'm fairly certain but I would like some confirmation from those smarter than I before I blow the money.

For about a week now I've had trouble getting it to start after sitting overnight. It would take a good 30 seconds to a minute for it to turn over, and when it did start it would run pretty rough until it warmed up a bit. It would even stall if I put it in gear right away.

Then once it was drivable, it would occasionally feel like it was about to stall only to come back, very jerky if you will, especially at higher speeds (65+, by 75 it was almost continual). At lower speeds its usually normal, just the occasional stutter, yet OK most of the time.

The opti/coil/ICM/wires/plugs are fuel filter all within/about a year old, so I didn't think it was them.

I finally got a fuel pressure gauge today and hooked it up. I haven't had a chance to check it in the morning yet so I've only checked it when its been starting normally. The numbers are still low though.

Key on, about 35psi
Idle, 30-32psi
Vacuum line disconnected, 40psi.

When i would give it gas though, it would jump up to ~45psi but then instantly down to usually 30, but sometimes as low as ~25

This makes me think its the fuel pump. I don't get why it held at 40psi with the vacuum line off though, I'll have to try it again later to confirm that.

Also, it had no problem holding pressure, at least for the 15-20 minutes I've had to check it so far.

Any thoughts are welcome
