Oil on Passenger Side valve cover hose that leads to PCV

I have read some previous links on this board and the common result is a high mileage engine. My LT1 is a 95 and only 15,000 miles (1LE special factory order). I'm the original owner and drive the car only on weekends. I have never leaked oil from here before.

I just moved to the hills and because my car is a manual, I use 3rd gear to coast down. The RPMs can get high and that is when I noticed (and smelled) the oil sepage.

Is it possible that high RPMs (3000 - 4000) on Decel using the engine as a brake for prolonged periods would cause the oil leak? The smell/oil seems to occur only when I decel using engine RPMs on my manual.

Don't know about the 95 but on my 97 the PVC is on the left(driver side), the right side is the fresh air side. The air goes in that side. May be the PVC is clogged? Shouldn't make any difference if your accell. or decell., the same amount of oil is pumped into the valve cover area. It may make a difference if your pointed up hill or down hill, especially on a steep hill.

The PCV valve should work better when there's high vacuum in the engine, as there is on decel. There will also be less blowby on the rings under decel. Should insure there is flow from the TB port (which is in front of the blades), through the hose to the passenger side valve cover.

Thanks guys.

Injuneer, I searched Shbox's website but I don't see the hose in front of the TB. Is that the hose that is on top of the other hose on the passenger side that comes from the passenger valve cover?

Alright, I know what you talking about, passenger side, its not a PCV, theres a hose from the Throttle Body to it and it is basically kinda like a breather, you could replace it with one if you want but otherwise, the reason is probably the rubber bushing that the hose goes to is worn out, get a new one at autozone and then it wont either slip out or let oil leak past.
