Car cuts out at wot usually when above 3000rpm, no ses. Just replaced opti.

Sometimes but not always if I go above 3000rpm at wide open throttle, it seems as if my ignition just cuts off for a split second and I sometimes get a backfire. It never or at least not yet has died on me, just simply cuts off for a second. I just replaced the opti to see if that was it and it is still doing it. Also when it does this I wait to see if a SES comes on but it doesn't. Thanks for any help.

Ignition switch???? Do you have a large bundle of keys? Does it seem as though other electrical items are cutting out as well?

What opti did you put back on? Line it up right? Plug wires in the right spot?

A crossed wire will make it run like a bad opti. runs but pops and misses etc.

Age of plugs / wires? I pretty much swap plugs anytime I touch the ignition because they are so cheap.

Make sure your ignition system is well grouded, especially the MSD. E Ignitions should be grounded to block or at least somewhere where you can get a good ground or you might get what you are experiencing at higher revs. JMHP
