Delco spark plugs

I am looking into replacing the plugs in my LT1....and also the 4.3 in my van. From what i hear its always best to go with factory plugs...but i have heard that the platinum tip on the Delcos comes off Is this true and if so should i use different plugs.

When I pulled my old platinum plugs, all of the pucks were missing leaving the gaps in the .080 range. I have since opted for the copper conductor NGK TR-55s so I know longer have to deal the platinum pucks issue. They work just as well as the factory spec plugs in my opinion.

LOL I wouldn't touch the Boschs with a 10 foot poll Looks like im gonna be picking between the Delcos and NGKs. I don't intend to use any N20....would the pucks still fall off the Delcos even without N20?

Using nitrous won't cause the pucks to fall off on the platinum plugs. Its not even advised to use platinum plugs and spray anyhow. And yes, if you don't want to change plugs as frequently, go with the iridium, they will cost a little more though.

I lost the pucks off two sets of Delco stock plugs... one set when I wasn't running nitrous, and one set while I was. I would suggest the NGK's.

Question

Excuse me for intruding but I have a set of Autolite AP104 plugs I was going to install. Have they had a problem with losing the Platinum puck?

No, don't think they have a puck like the delco's and they are alot cheaper. I've run them for 36k miles, and they need changed, but I'm waiting for warmer weather.

Those Autolites have copper conductors and do not have the pucks.

I've been running AC-Delco Rapidfire plugs for years without issue. I can't tell that they have any pucks on them.
