What oil and oil filters do you guys use

I dont care about the money but I use the Mobil 1 syn on my 1997 Camaro and I started the Mobil1 on my LT1 at 120,000 and now I have 134,000 runs like it was new but I changed from a Fram to a K&N and I notice the oil pressure is alittle better. I know the Fram has a better filter but K&N is more for flow. Does this really matter for performance? Other thing I have always put an extra quart of Mobil 1 will that hurt my engine it been a year and the extra doesnt seem to hurt. Im new this this forum. Thanks guys. My car is nice, black and white camaro the light inserts are shiny black and the mirrors and the whole top is black and the grill is black and the front signals are clear outs from SLP. Need to put pictures up soon for you guys.

People will dispute the Fram being the better filter. A lot of people say FRAM are the worst oil filters out there, but that hasnt stopped me from using them. If you change your oil regularly I dont think youll ever really run into a problem. Just be sure to pick an appropriate oil weight for your engine and its condition.

I just made the switch to sythetic ~112,000 miles, only to extend my time between oil changes. I am running Penzoil Platinum oil these days. I usually use whatever filter is on sale that week at the local auto parts store.

I use the 10-30 and change every 2500 miles or when it turns black. 134,000 miles beat the crap out of it every time I drive it . With the cold ground if I punch it it will almost go fully side ways then it finally grabs traction. DO it everytime and I cant stop I love it. The LT1 with cold air lov the cold air my friends LS1 camaro cant do what my car does and we both have automatics and same crap cold air and loudmouth

Maybe your friend in the ls1 has a bit better tires than you.
I used the tough guard fram for one change and took it off and went to Wix race filter. Much better flow, and like already said, fram has a pretty bad rep about being a terrible filter anymore.

fram is ****ty...just trust me...I have been using k&n filters for a long time...i think the general consensus is fram does a poor job of filtering debris and other gunk out of the oil. Next time you go to the store looking to buy one, pick up a fram and a k&n...open both of them and look at the filter element. Should make it farely obvious.

And you cant go wrong with mobil 1 synthetic...im using 5w30 weight

If you read the specs though Fram has a better rate for capturing the debris but the draw back would be flow, the K&N says it flows better but the capture rate is like 80-90% versus like 99% on the fram

I'll be using Amsoil series 2000 0w30 and an Amsoil Eao-25 oil filter in my new race engine.

I've read most of the oil and oil filter survey's out there, both the partisan and non-partisan studies...

I refuse to use any oil filter besides WIX, maybe a puroline, I hear that K&N is good, but haven't seen it in a side-side breakd-wn and take-apart comparison done by a competant technician.

If I run non-synthetic, I use Rotella 15-30 in the gallon jugs, me, my father, and grandpa have been using rotella in the gallon jug since it was invented in everything from gas, to diesel, tractor, trailor, and big rigs. It kicks the *** out of most other oils in comparisons.

If I run synthetic, mobil 1

Next time you go to the parts store buy a bunch of filters and take them home and cut them apart and take a look at them. We did that at the local autozone and left the filters on the shelf so everyone could see the difference. STP filters are basically the same as Mobil 1 filters and frams just look like crap. Plus the case on the fram filters are so weak, they crush almost everytime you change your oil.

I use STP filters on all of my cars and trucks and mobil oil, but on a side note my 95 LT1 I just picked up has 120,000 on the odometer and some slight oil leaks, do you think its ok to switch to Mobil 1?
