Tuning a future LE2 setup

When I get the money, I'm going to buy the LE2 heads and probably some new fuel injectors, but I wanted to wait and buy the cam later when I have the money to have it installed right away. I'm also about to buy LT1 Edit to tune my car and I was wondering if this program will have everything I need to tune with the LE2 setup? Also, I would imagine it's safe to run the car between the head and cam install with the tune setup for heads only but I just wanted to make sure because I'll be new to the whole tuning thing.
Thanks

Just wait and do it all at once. Don't piecemeal like that, it's pointless, and lots of extra work. Besides, the expensive part is the heads, not the cam.

If anything, do a cam first, heads later.

I agree about waiting until you have all your pieces to install. But if you must do it piece-by-piece, you should go with a cam first. You will see a greater increase in performance with a cam vs. heads on the stock cam. The stock cam will not put the LE2 heads to their full potential, vs. a after market cam.

Ok, I was planning on doing the heads first because I can do those on my own, but the cam I will have to take to a shop. But I guess I'll get the LT1 Edit awhile, tune it now, since I just installed a whole bunch of bolt ons, then retune it only one more time after the heads and cam are both in. Does that sound like a better idea?

If you are going to do the tuning yourself, then learning how to tune while the car is lightly modded (bolt-ons) before trying to tune for H/C sounds like a very smart idea.

Why would you take the car to a shop to do the cam, but not the heads.

Do both dude yourself, it's not that tough.

Cam is easier than the heads,,,
Pulling the heads with the motor in the car is a nightmare.

You do realize tuning isnt as simple as just buying the software. Theres a million different things you need to know how to do, expecially to tune driveability.

IMO the cam is more time consuming than the heads.

My plan was to do the heads myself without removing the motor, then taking the cam to the shop. I don't really want to mess with anything near the waterpump or opti again, since I just got done replacing opti a couple months back. It was a pain to in my garage and I'd like to keep that kind of stuff to a bare minimum. But I didn't realize the heads would be all that tough to get out with the engine in. So now I'm leaning towards just taking both H/C to the shop and letting them deal with the whole thing.
But yea, I know the tuning can get really confusing and I'm new to it so that's why I was going to work with it as is, before H/C, then hopefully learn all about it before doing anything else. It's not like I'm going through this in a matter of weeks, it will be many months between tuning and H/C that I'm going to ask questions and get to know the tuning program before trying anything big.
Thanks for the help so far
