Fluid damper or not ???New engine

So i will install my new motor in my car(lt4 crate).90% of the parts/accessories will be new:

-LT4 intake
-Water pump, power steering pump and all the front accessories
-Headers and y-pipe
-Poly motor mount
-Billet flywheel and ram or mcloed clutch kit(still debating)
-Etc...

I was going to reuse my stock hub and damper pulley from my dead lt1 but there is some small crack on the damper so for safety mesure i will need to also change those parts.

I dont wanna skip on any parts because and i dont want to change my motor every year because of faulty parts, but im beginning to be short on $$$.

What are my option?

-Buy a new stock hub and damper...
-Price:???
-Part number:???

or

-Fluid damper but wich one...
-Also how do i install it?
-Price:???
-Part number:???

I ve found this one:
http://www.elitesparkplugs.com/sfifl...ulleyKits.html

"Elitesparkplugs.com offers fluid damper pulley
kits that are exclusively designed and specially
manufactured by our engineering expertise; the
fluid damper pullet kits are patented in the U.S.
and worldwide. The main housings and
crankshaft hubs are precision forged from 1020
low carbon steel. The pulleys are extruded from
6061 aluminum alloys with T-6 heat treatment.
The high viscosity silicone fluid and inertia ring
absorbs the torsion vibration from the rotating
assembly at any frequency and RPM. All fluid
damper kits are tested and certified in
compliance with SFI 18.1 specification
"

The price seems good and its SFI approved.

Thank you

A "fluid damper" is not a "Fluidampr"...... the latter is the "original", the former is a generic copy. Whether a "Fluidampr" is even the best choice is subject to debate, since people either like the ATI or the Fluidampr, with no middle ground. Keep in mind that Fluidampr went bankrupt a few years ago, and the product line was bought by another manufacturer.

GM was concerned enough about the LT4 engine that they designed a new, dual-mass damper. But I don't think it will work with the F-Body, and I don't think SLP used it on the few LT4 F-Bodys they built. For what is basically a stock rotating assembly engine, spending $350-400 on a damper seems like overkill.

If elitesparkplugs fluid dampers are anything like their spark plugs I would stay as far away from them as possible.

If its just the dampner thats cracked you could always get an asp 23% u/d pulley since that's the only u/d pulley that replaces the stock dampner.

Ok i ve found the part number(well i think).

Camaro / Firebird - 93-97 LT1 350 - 23% Crank 800
Part number: ASP945100

I ve also answer to my own question that this pulley will replace my stock damper since its not a cheap piggy back.

Last question:

-I got a 95 and i would like the part number for the hub ?

I know that the 96/97 use the short hub (part number:12550097)

Thanks

Not hard to find the part #'s if you use Shoebox's listing:

http://shbox.com/1/Parts.htm

1993-1995 crank hub 12553250 $48.40

1996-1997 crank hub 12550097 $48.40

I don't think you want to run just an underdrive pully. I would research that a little more. I read something a while back that you shouldn't run just the underdrive pully. I have my stock pulley on the outside of my underdrive pulley.

You're right. The pattern does not line up with the F-Body accessories. i bought one, and shipped it straight to the engine builder for balancing, only to find out that they were incompatible.

The ASP part he is looking at is an integrated underdrive pulley and damper, and is an acceptable replacement for the stock pulley/damper assembly. He's not talking about an add-on pulley that you sandwich behind your stock damper.
