Balancer/pulley/underdrive

I want a damper and underdrive pulley, but I want them one in the same. I dont care about legalness of a dragstrip rules and such. I just want to lose the piggy back deal, I want the maximum under drive, and I want the lightest thing avalible.

I have found this is this the only option?

Also will this work with and LT1, dont an LT1 have a magnetic pick up or whatever?

TIA

That will work on your '94. No magnetic pick-up. The '96-'97 LT1s have a crank position sensor. Use Goodyear belt #4060610 with it.

So you dont have to piggy back a 93-95?? Ive never heard of no piggys on lt1's but hey im still learning. Im already running a 4060577 belt. So if what your saying is correct all I would have to do is take the balancer/damper completly off and use shorter bolts?

Sorry to steal you tread, but I'm bulding a 355 and am going to balance it soon, I plan on getting the same pulley, my ?? is do I take the original balancer/pulley to get it balanced or the ASP which is the one I will be using??

The machinist told me the underdrive pulley was neutral balanced and didnt matter, but I took it anyhow.

I put the ASP integrated U/D pulley/balancer on my 94 LT1 in 1995... they've been available for at least 11 years.

Why do you feel you would need to use shorter bolts? You use the stock bolts with the ASP "complete replacement" unit.

The stock damper (its not a "balancer") is neutral balanced. All the balancing in a stock LT1 is done with the weight on the flywheel (or flex plate). You make sure your replacement damper/pulley is also neutral balanced, so that if you ever have to replace it, you don't have to have your rotating assembly rebalanced.

On the piggy issue, the other guy said there was no need for the balancer, thats why I brought up shorter bolts. So is the "intergrated" pulley 34% under or 25%?

The link you posted is for the ASP integrated damper/pulley. Same one I bought 11 years ago. It says in the link you posted that it is 23%. ASP also makes an U/D alternator pulley, that will slow the alternator down even more. But based on my experience, you need to keep engine RPM over 1,000 to keep the system voltage from dropping into the red at idle, with a lot of electrical load.

The U/D pulley is not a big power saver on the LT1, because of the fact the belt doesn't drive the water pump. This dyno test showed an 0.7 HP peak gain (higher average gain) with an U/D pulley. The ASP might be a bit better, since it weighs less than the piggy back style:

So you think taking the piggy back 34% off and running the intergrated 23% would provide more power. My amprage right now is perfect. It is a little over half warm. 13.5~ volts. I run the 4060577 belt, with the small alt pulley, Small A/C pulley, and the piggy style crank underdrive. It just bugs the ever living hell out of me I cant run the 34% underdrive as a intergrated. I hate having the extra rotating weight.
