Where my plugs bad???
Where my plugs bad???
***That's WERE my plugs bad, not 'where'....*** I'm in the middle of changing my spark plugs & was wondering if they were bad enough to cause the problems that I was having.... The problem was that the motor had no power from mid RPM's on up. Stumbled & missed under acceleration..... The old plugs were a brownish color which I believe means they looked ok. But, the gap was at 60 to 70+ Thousands on them. I guess the electroids had worn down so that the gap was really big.... Anyway is there a chance that this was my problem???? As always, THANKS!

When I first bought my car, the car ran like crap and had a pretty severe lack of power. It turns out the plugs were all measuring around a .080" gap. The platinum plugs are notorious for losing the pucks which causes them to develop such a large gap. Put some new plugs in there and see what it does.
.....Thanks a bunch Nick3 & 2000gtp, the plugs that I took out were AC 906's & the ones I'm putting in are the NGK TR 55's. I have 150K on the car & when I bought it it had 30K & I've never changed the plugs. And seeing as how it only had 30,000 miles on it when I bought it the original owner probably never changed the plugs.... So I guess I got my moneys worth out of the plugs??? {LOL}.... Ah, so those little 'tit' things are called 'pucks'??? Yeah my pucks are worn down to the point where the gap is too big..... I'm on my way to the parts store now, I can't find my short 3/8" extension. So I'll get one of those & change the 'other' side... I got the tourch out last night & cut off the AIR. So I WILL get the other side done
.... Thanks again, Bill
ps, oh yeah, only two of the 'pre-gapped' NGK plugs were gapped at .050! So I see it's a good idea to check this!
