Question Just Bought Cam...and the questions begin

Well, I just bought the COMP CAMS LT1/LT4 XTREME ENERGY 276 CAMSHAFT #07-503-8 because I want to make some power, but not have to spin to high heaven to get it. Call it "383 Build Fear" if you will...

Specs are 224 int./230 exh with .510/.530 lift on a stock 1.5 ratio.

I am looking to see if 1.6rr are giong to benefit me more than 1.5rr. Another guy with this cam ran the 1.6's with no problems.

This a good idea? Lifters and pushrods are being replaced at the same time.

Also, Comp Cams recommends the 26918-16 springs, which are the beehive ones. I searched, and a couple people had problems with them breaking...

Any other springs I can run that won't require head modifications that might be better??

(I am under the impression through searching that the 918's do not require any mods to the heads.)

I think some people don't know how to warm up their car before putting the hammer down. That is how 90% of the spring breakages that I see occur.

Yes - use 1.6 rockers...how many miles are on your motor? Stock motor? Heads?

75K miles, stock heads/internals.

Money set aside for rebuild, but between collge, full-time job, and firefighting...no time :-(

Those springs okay? Or you guys suggest something else not requiring head work??

I would use the 918's, and I am! Just go through several heat cycles and oil changes before getting on it too hard.
